The following are genuine testimonials of clients to whom I have provided SEN home tutoring services. These clients are based in and around the Guildford are, as well as other areas of Surrey and Hampshire. I am fully prepared to give references, or referrals upon request.
“I contacted Anne-Marie in July 2020, after frantically searching for an experienced SEN and emotional coach who could provide support in the Berkshire area for my 13 year old son, who has special educational needs and significant language difficulties. Whilst interventions were put in place at primary and secondary school, following assessments by SALT and Educational Psychologists, it was clear that my son was still struggling to access his education, with the learning gap between him and his peers increasing.
I explained to Anne-Marie the challenges we were facing, with the school repetitively putting in place interventions which were not effective. She was attentive, empathetic and demonstrated vast experience in this area, without making judgement. My request at the time was for Anne-Marie to meet my son and establish whether she could support him with his SEN and provide emotional coaching, at home.
After only working with my son for 6 months, I am so amazed with the good relationship and strong rapport he has with Anne-Marie. She picked up on his love of comics and on her first visit (after spending her own time and effort to create a comic PowerPoint presentation), she presented my son with this. He was absolutely delighted and their relationship has gone from strength to strength. He is enjoying the sessions and is engaging very well. He has found a confidante in Anne-Marie, who he trusts and can laugh with, whilst learning and using new strategies. These sessions are also helping to bring out his fun-loving personality.
Recently, Anne-Marie has gone above and beyond with her support and guidance, which allowed me to complete a request for an EHC assessment on behalf of my son. I found the process and forms difficult to understand, not having done this before. However, Anne-Marie was patient with all of my questions, extremely knowledgeable regarding the legal process timelines and experienced with the documentation needed as supporting evidence. Whilst this process is not yet complete, I feel confident that I have access to work with Anne-Marie and obtain confidential advice, every step of the way.
Anne-Marie is just simply amazing! I had reviewed the profiles of other SEN and emotional coaches within the area, but her experience, expertise and professionalism were exemplary and absolutely shone through. She is truly outstanding, with a soothing, down-to-earth style. She is passionate and cares about my son’s education and future, as much as I do. That is such a rare and remarkable trait. I am so blessed and grateful to have found Anne-Marie and look forward to her supporting my son as he continues his education and prepares for adulthood.”

"Anne-Marie has served as an emotional coach to M for the past 8 years, beginning around the time he was diagnosed with autism aged 8. Anne-Marie is an incredibly skilled practitioner who truly understands the complexities and nuances of neurodiversity. Raising an autistic child comes with its challenges, but with Anne-Marie’s guidance over the years we are now able to see and experience what a gift it has been. Anne-Marie has an incredible talent for tailoring sessions around M’s latest interest, and seamlessly adapting her style to his changing needs from child to teenager. Early on, M learned lifelong emotional regulation tools from a board game she made from scratch - it must have taken hours! That was a super fun session, and M came home buzzing.
Now that M is a teenager, she brings her sweet dog, rabbits and guinea pigs to the sessions, and their presence creates a lovely sense of calm and naturally opens up the conversation. Under her guidance, M has overcome his severe anxiety and developed his resilience, emotional regulation and social skills to a level that he is happily thriving in mainstream school and looking forward to studying aerospace engineering at university.
Over the years, Anne-Marie has also been a faithful advocate for us as we navigate government support, school applications and school transition routines. She is a rare find and we are extremely grateful for the impact she has had on our lives."
"Anne-Marie has been a lifeline for our family. Our AuDHD/PDA son was struggling with any sort of school attendance, and we felt completely lost in how to support his unique learning needs.
From the start, Anne-Marie just understood—she listened, reassured us, and has been incredibly generous with her time and advice. She’s also supported us through the start of the EHCP process and been an invaluable sounding board during a really difficult phase.
Over the past couple of months, she’s been doing self-directed learning with our son, and it’s been amazing to see the change. He’s engaging again, learning in a way that truly works for him, and his curiosity and love of learning have come back.
We feel far less alone and much more confident as a family. If you have a neurodivergent child, you need Anne-Marie in your back pocket."

"Anne-Marie has provided twice weekly tutoring for our home educated child for two years. We are delighted to have found her as she has delivered fantastic support. She is sensitive in her approach, knowledgeable and effective in strategies to reduce anxiety and demand avoidance. Anne-Marie has built a positive relationship with our child and has also been very supportive and respectful of us as parents which we value hugely.
She has offered advice on the EHCP process, and several times gone the extra mile providing professional feedback for this and other purposes. We would certainly recommend Anne-Marie as a SEN tutor and family support worker."

"Anne-Marie supported us through the EHCP progress and really understood the struggles we faced. She was very respectful to us and supported us through a very difficult time with our daughter. We received the final EHCP 6 months ago and our daughter is now receiving the correct support.
She loves her new school and Anne-Marie even helped with our daughter's transition into school. Our daughter had been out of education for over a year!
Thank you so much for your support."
David Walton from Hampshire
"I was told my daughter would never read or write! After a few months working with Anne-Marie, she is able to write her name and a few CVC words. She is now able to read low level books and knows all her phonic sounds.
My daughter is now able to count and recognise/write the numbers 1 - 25. Her receptive and expressive language skills have greatly improved and Anne-Marie worked along side our Speech and Language Therapist to support this.
I cannot thank Anne-Marie enough for the progress my daughter has made in such little time!"

"I have employed Anne-Marie to home school my 8 year old daughter who has ASD, PDA, Speech and Language delay and Behavioural problems. My daughter hated school and learning and she is still in KS1 after yet another school letting her down I turned to Anne-Marie who has turned my daughter around. She now loves learning! Anne-Marie implemented a behavioural plan for her and we no longer see meltdowns, she engages in lessons and she now tells me she loves learning.
Anne-Marie works really hard differentiating her lesson plans with many options so my daughter has a choice of how she's going to learn a subject so she feels in control.
She's always on time and always has time to talk to me about any problems out of lesson time and she has been very supportive with my situation regarding my daughters schooling. Anne-Marie brings her own resources and has purchased more to suit my daughters needs.
I know from experience if Anne-Marie does not know the answer to a question or a problem I have she will go away and research it and come back to you with an answer, even if you didn't ask her to. She is a genuinely lovely person."

"Anne-Marie, where would we be without you? Thank you so much for being fun, understanding, inspiring and so creative! Our boys love seeing you and knowing you are always supportive and smiley.
The visual learning aids, games and resources you choose and design have helped our boys with their literacy and numeracy already so much. They have increased their knowledge and confidence (and taught me a lot too!)
The way you teach is ingenious - here’s to our next session!
Thank you A, J, Ch + M"

"What an amazing lady! Anne-Marie has so much personal and professional experience that gives her a unique ability in supporting families.
She really does understand what we have been through (hell & back). She is very supportive & non-judgmental of us as parents. We are so glad she came into our lives when she did. Anne-Marie really understands mental health issues."
Jade Gilbert from Aldershot, Hants
"I would recommend Anne-Marie to anyone in need of her support. She has been fantastic and her concerns about our son's anxiety, led to his diagnosis."

"Anne-Marie, where do we start? You have been so caring, understanding, respectful, hardworking and dedicated to supporting us all. We hugely value your approach and the reports you have provided for us, have been amazing! We are so glad our case worker recommended you to us."
Andrew B from Surrey
"Anne-Marie was recommended to us by our SEND case worker. This was due to her experience and understanding of Pathological Demand Avoidance. Her approach is amazing and we value her advice greatly.
Anne-Marie really makes learning fun and very individualised. Our son's behaviour has really improved and we no longer see him experiencing a meltdown after a lesson. We have tried numerous tutors, but none have built a rapport with him or understood PDA.
We would highly recommend Anne-Marie as a SEN tutor."
