I offer support for the endocrine, mood and depressive disorder, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and related disorders. Which is now classified in the DSM-5 and recognised as a severe condition.

PMDD causes physical symptoms but also different mental health symptoms, such as depression and suicidal feelings.

What is Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder?

PMDD is a health problem that affects around 5-7% of women of child-bearing age. 

PMDD generally manifests itself a week or two before your period starts. Symptoms usually go away two to five days after your period starts. There are a variety of treatments to help you with your symptoms. 

Symptoms of PMDD

Common symptoms vary among women but can include any of these: -

• Social withdrawal
• Extreme fatigue (rather than tiredness)
• Self-harm
• Paranoia/severe anxiety
• Uncontrollable crying (rather than frequent)
• Sensitivity to perceived rejection
• Lack/loss of humour
• Feeling overwhelmed & unable to cope
• Sensitivity to noise & light
• Hot flushes
• Skin sensitivity/rashes (including severe itching)
• Decrease in cognitive function and memory
• Lasting irritability or anger that may affect other people 
• Feelings of sadness or despair, or even thoughts of suicide
• Feelings of tension or anxiety
• Panic attacks
• Mood swings or episodes of frequent crying
• Lack of interest in daily activities and relationships
• Trouble thinking, focusing, or concentrating
• Tiredness or low energy
• Food cravings or binge eating
• Trouble sleeping
• Feeling out of control
• Physical symptoms, such as cramps, bloating, breast tenderness, headaches, and joint or muscle pain.
